Plaque

Alexander Parkes and Parkesine

Inscription

First plastic in the world, known as 'parkesine', invented by Alexander Parkes. First made near this site, 1866 at the Parkesine Works.
London Borough of Hackney

Site: Alexander Parkes and Parkesine (1 memorial)

E9, Wallis Road / Berkshire Road

We were there on 'Run Hackney' day, though quite a few of them were actually walking the half marathon. The street art in Hackney streets is worth a visit alone. We like the way these men and black horses are practically forming a rugby scrum, jumping up for the plaque/ball.

CgMs, an archaeological desk-based assessment, contains some maps of the area, at least one of which shows the Parksine {sic} Works, on this site. With the Atlas Works next door.
