Statue

Earl Haig

Erection date: 10/11/1937

Inscription

{On the front of the plinth:}
Field Marshal, Earl Haig, Command-in-Chief of the British armies in France, 1915 - 1918.
{On the back of the plinth:}
Erected by Parliament

The stance of the horse has been criticised since the position of the hind legs suggest urination. Probably not what was intended. We thank Jamie Davis for finding this link to the British Pathe news film of the unveiling.
