{Inscribed in the red marble wall:}
On this site stood the Roman basilica c.120 AD. The archaeological remains were uncovered by the Museum of London during excavations sponsored by Legal and General and English Heritage during 1986.

The plaque is in the arcade to the right of our picture.  The Museum of London have a map that shows the location of this and other archaeological finds.
