{Bottom Plaque:}
Two of these houses built by R Thomas Child; one by M Solomon Williams; one by William Abbot, Carpinter, at his own charge for y {sic} use of poor of Chiswick for ever 1724.

A small plaque to the right of the lower plaque reads 'Renovated 1974 London Borough of Hounslow'.

From the excellent 'Panorama of the Thames': "A row of small almshouses erected in the 18th century by public subscription, rebuilt in the 1950s and renovated in the 1970s. These were originally thatched alms houses first built in the mid-C17th and rebuilt in the early C18th ... They were again extended and repaired in 1934 with funds from the estate of Middlesex County Councillor B. Hopkin Morris. They were bought by Hounslow Council in 1973, when at risk of demolition, and restored..."

The terrace runs north-south and at the north end is a sign: '1-3 Hopkin Morris Cottages'. From British History Online we learn that it was in the 1934 work that the number was reduced from 4 to 3.
