Erection date: 7/5/2005
In memory of Loughton's civilian war dead, 1939 - 1945.
{Followed by a list of 32 names in alphabetic sequence, see Subjects commemorated.}
Unusually for a memorial to civilian deaths the ages and genders are not given, but the repetition of surnames suggests that these deaths are probably the results of wartime bombs which would often kill all the residents in a home, and during wartime that would mean mainly women, children and the elderly. Some information about some of the names is provided at the Loughton Roll of Honour.
