Metropolitan Drinking Fountain - jubilee

Erection date: 3/5/1911

Inscription

{On long, low bronze plaques, one on each face, starting at the south and going clockwise:}

To commemorate the jubilee of The Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association, this fountain was presented by the Association to the Corporation of the City of London and replaces one erected in 1859 by Samuel Gurney, Esq. MP.

Consigned to the care of the Streets Committee of the Corporation of London

May 3rd 1911.

Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association, 1859 – 1909, Chairman: Samuel Gurney, Esq, MP, Maj.Genl. Lord Cheylesmore, KCVO.

This fountain was unveiled by the Right Honourable Sir T. Vezey Strong, Lord Mayor of London, May 3rd 1911.
