N7, Eden Grove, Sacred Heart of Jesus

To the left of this church is a Victorian school building. High up on its wall is a large, flat, but sort of secret, Christian cross, created just by the use of darker bricks. It has a base which 'stands' on a double string course of the same dark bricks, meaning that it represents a cross standing in a church rather that the commoner, more generic, free-standing cross. Not sure why we found this so fascinating - high above the usual view-line a simple technique has been used to create a well-known symbol - perhaps just because we have not seen anything similar before.  The building, Claringbull Court, was converted into flats in 2008.
