Rachel McMillan

Categories: Education, Social Welfare

Countries: USA

Health visitor and educator. Born at Throggs Neck, Westchester county, New York. Both her parents were from Scotland, and the family returned there when her father died. She and her sister Margaret opened an experimental school clinic in Bow, but their most famous enterprise, was the Deptford Camp School, which was primarily for the education of the working classes. Although she was given credit as the driving force behind these ventures, she in fact was merely supporting the vision of her sister. Died at her home, 353 Evelyn Street, Deptford.
