Michael Norman Finn

Categories: Music / songs

Known professionally as Mickey Finn he was a percussionist who joined Marc Bolan in late 1969 on bongos/percussion, replacing Steve Took, & was with T-Rex until 1975. It is said he was chosen for his looks rather than his musical ability. In the 1990s he formed 'Mickey Finn's T-Rex' & in 2002 attended the Marc Bolan bronze bust unveiling at the shrine in Queen's Ride.

Michael Norman Finn was born on 3 June 1947 in Thornton Heath, Surrey (now Greater London), the elder child of William Michael Finn (1921-1984) and Joyce Rose Finn née Chapman (1921-2020). His birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1947 in the Croydon registration district, Surrey (now Greater London). His younger brother was Christopher Alan Finn (1951-2003).

He died, aged 55 years, on 11 January 2003, his death being registered in the Croydon registration district. His body was cremated at Beckenham Crematorium, Elmers End Road, Beckenham, BR3 4TD.
