Lawyer. Born in Wyndham Place, Bryanston Square, son of Benjamin Cohen and nephew of Moses Montefiore. Studied maths and became the first practising Jew to graduate from Cambridge. Admitted to Inner Temple in 1853 and became a QC in 1874. Was Treasurer of the Temple in 1894. MP in Southwark. Important active member of the London Jewish community. Died 26 Great Cumberland Place.
