Trumpeter. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Nicknamed 'Satchmo' (short for satchel mouth). Brought up in extreme poverty, his musical career started when he learned to play the cornet. In later life he had hit parade success with songs such as 'Hello Dolly' (knocking the Beatles off the number one slot in America) and 'What a Wonderful World.'
