Group

Justice for Lai Dai Han

This group campaigns for an independent UN-led investigation into allegations of widespread sexual violence by South Korean soldiers during the Vietnam War. The group commissioned the Mother and Child statue.

From their website: "The “Lai Dai Han” are the tens of thousands of children of Vietnamese women raped by South Korean soldiers during the Vietnam War. Between 1964 and 1973, some 320,000 South Korean soldiers were deployed to Vietnam to fight alongside the United States. ... By failing to recognise and apologise for the sexual violence committed by South Korean soldiers, the South Korean government is denying justice to the victims of rape and to the children born as a result of these acts."
