Francis Lord Derwent

Francis Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, 2nd Baron Derwent. Army officer and landowner. Attended Eton, 1864-9. 

First born son to Harcourt Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone of Hackness Grange, Scarborough. Harcourt was the 1st Baron Derwent (1829-1916) peer and Liberal Party politician. He and his wife Charlotte Mills had 9 children altogether, including the 4 mentioned on the plaque at the Boat House: Francis, Alan, Cecil and Gilbert.
