Hanif Kureishi

Novelist, playwright and screenwriter. Born in Bromley, Kent. He started his career as a pornography writer, but progressed to writing plays for several London fringe theatres. His novels include 'The Buddha of Suburbia', and he wrote the screenplay for My Beautiful Laundrette for which he received an Academy Award nomination.

On 26 December 2022, Kureishi was hospitalised following a fall in Rome, which left him with spinal injuries and unable to move his limbs.
