Lucian Freud, OM, CH

Categories: Art

Countries: Germany

Painter. Lucian Michael Freud was born Berlin, Germany. In 1933 his family moved with him to England to escape the Nazis. Grandson of Sigmund, brother of Clement. He was appointed a Companion of Honour in 1983, and a member of the Order of Merit in 1993.

His Wikipedia page gives much details of his life and confirms that he died, aged 88 years, on 20 July 2011. His body was buried in Highgate Cemetery West, Swain's Lane, London, N6 6PJ.

Our colleague, Andrew Behan, informs us that he was listed in the 1949 edition of the E-K Section of the London Postal Area telephone directory as residing at 28 Clifton Hill, London, NW8 and that he was shown on electoral registers between 2003 and 2007 at 36 Holland Park, London, W11 3TA.
