Commemorated on a memorial as having died in WW1.

Sailor. Born George Leslie Drewry. He was a midshipman in the Royal Naval Reserve and was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on 25th April 1915 at V Beach in the landing at Cape Helles, during the Gallipoli campaign. He was helping to secure lighters under heavy fire, when he was wounded in the head. He continued working, and twice attempted to swim from lighter to lighter with a line. He was killed in an accident at Scapa Flow.
