Lord Rosebery, Archibald Philip Primrose

Born 20 Charles Street. Prime Minister, 1894-5, and first Chairman of the London County Council (1889-90, 1892-3). On the death of his wife, Hannah, he was subjected to accusations of homosexuality, especially dangerous from Lord Queensbury, the one who made Oscar Wilde's life a misery.

Died at home in Epsom, Surrey to the accompaniment, as requested, of a recording of the Eton Boating Song.
