Normandy Landings / D-Day

Categories: Armed Forces

Countries: France, USA

The landings, also known as Operation Neptune, were the landing operations in Operation Overlord during WW2. The 'D' in D-Day doesn't stand for anything as it was used as a substitute for the actual date of the event.

Long-planned and long-wished for, D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in world history and marked the beginning of the collapse of the German forces.
