Deputy of the ward of the parish of St Mary the Virgin Aldermanbury. The Story of a Victorian House has some details on Sir Robert since he once lived at Laurel House near Bexley, Kent. He was Chairman of R. H. & S. Rogers Ltd, a firm of shirtmakers which later traded under the name Rocola, founded by his father Thomas. Robert erected the fountain to celebrate his election as Deputy Alderman.
