{On the back of the statue base:}
McFall 1959

Unveiled by Montgomery in the presence of McFall, Churchill himself and a large crowd. One of only a few statues in London unveiled while the subject was still alive. The others are listed at Fenner Brockway.

Churchill was  MP for Woodford 1945 - 1964 which explains the location of this statue. We thank Jamie Davis for finding this link to the British Pathe news film of the unveiling which shows the elderly Churchill arriving.
