Statue

Colin Campbell

Erection date: 1867

Inscription

{On base of monument:}
Colin Campbell, Field Marshal Lord Clyde, born 1792, died

This is a rather grand memorial: the statue with Campbell resting his telescope on a palm-tree stump, being atop a fat pink marble pillar, at the base of which sits a life size allegorical woman, Britannia, lounging on a reclining lion. Glasgow has a copy of the statue, without all the add-ons.
