Strummer lived here in a squat with the band, the 101ers, named after a previous squat they'd occupied at 101 Walterton Road, W9.
From the modern information board: "This garden covers the site of the church of St Olave, destroyed in 1666 by the Great Fire of London....

This plaque was first erected at 7 Essex Street in 1962 and then re-erected here, at Essex Hall in 1964.
