Ford lived here for a few years with his mistress Violet Hunt and at the time the address was according to RBKC (who have a 1966 photo of the house), South Lodge, because an astronomer called James South had built an observatory in the house. We think Sir Victor Horsley may have been born here.

Friday Street used to continue northwards up to Cheapside but the top section was badly bombed in WW2 and then built over.
A pleasingly unofficial blue plaque - a rather emphatic layout with the letters practically breaking out the circle.
This plaque is on the last but one southern pier of the southern building.
