Erected by English actors and actresses and by others connected with the theatre in this country.

The erection of the statue was organised by the Irving Memorial Committee on land donated by the City of Westminster.  The Irving Society holds a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue on 6 February each year marking the actor’s birth.  There is a page on their website all about the statue.
