This flowering Malus tree "John Downie" was planted on the 19th January 2000 by the Master, His Honour Judge Cryan, and presented by the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers in celebration of the opening of the 3rd Christian Millennium.

The millennium tree (in 2008 still a sapling) is in front of the half-timbered wall. The two yews commemorating the 850th anniversary are to the left; only one of them appears in the picture.
