Nell Gwynne - SW1

Inscription

In a house on this site lived Nell Gwynne 1671-1687.

Site: Nell Gwynne - SW1 (1 memorial)

SW1, Pall Mall, 79

Gwynne moved into this house in 1671 and died here. The entire south side of Pall Mall was owned by the Crown but in 1676 she was given the freehold of this house and, we understand, today it is still the only house on the south side not owned by the Crown estate.
