Viewed from the tow path this bridge is modern in design but the plaque was almost certainly erected to mark its opening in the 19th century. Rather oddly the new bridge seems to be narrower than the original. Any information welcome.

The plaque, as well as having rather peculiar punctuation gets the year of death wrong but only by 2 days, so understandable.
