Sigmund Freud statue

Erection date: 2/10/1970

Inscription

{On the front of the plinth:}
Sigmund Freud

Nemon sculpted Freud for this statue in 1931 in Vienna and there it was intended to be erected. Both subject and sculptor fled from the Nazis to London and so it was erected here.

2017: From OUP we learn that in 2018 a copy of this statue will finally be unveiled in Vienna.
