Plaque

Spiritualist Temple - Beard

Inscription

Foundation stone laid by Ernest W. Beard Esq.
Thos. Yorke Esq. Architect, Highgate N.
J. Wright & Son, Hiccinson & Co. Contractors, Hendon N.W.

Site: Rochester Square Spiritualist Temple (4 memorials)

NW1, Rochester Square, Rochester Square Spiritualist Temple

The wooden cross atop the building supports a neon cross, wired to an electrical box so rusty that we doubt it still lights the way for North London spirit seekers.

Spiritualist Resources has a picture of the interior of the Temple and says "Easter tide April 15th 1927: The Temple was opened and dedicated." 2016: That site no longer has the pictures but the Ham&High does. The building is apparently owned by the Spiritualists' National Union.

2017: Article in the local Camden New Journal in which Blur guitarist, Graham Coxon, backs a campaign to save this building, which has recently been sold for development.
