This clock, damaged by bombs in 1940, was restored in 1965 in appreciation of the half century.
Toynbee was "The home" of the Landsbergs 1st East London Boy Scout Group.
This clock was renovated in 1995 with funds donated in memory of Mrs Rose Bloom, 1908 - 1995.
The top plaque claims the 1965 restoration was in appreciation of "the half century", but of what? We can't find anything relevant to Toynbee Hall or the Scouts that happened in 1915. Can you enlighten us?
Site: Doctor Jimmy Mallon and the Toynbee clock (2 memorials)
E1, Commercial Street, Toynbee Hall
The plaques about the clock are at about shoulder height on the wall below the clock. The blue Mallon plaque is on the building to the left.
