Plaque

V2 bomb - Archway

Erection date: 23/7/2021

Inscription

In memory of the 35 adults and children who died, and the 219 who were injured, when the first V2 long-range rocket to hit Islington exploded here on 5 November 1944 during the Second World War.
Islington Memorial Plaque

We'd read that this plaque was unveiled on Zoom, for Covid reasons, on 5 November 2020. And maybe that was the plan at one stage, but Paul Canty wrote to say that it was actually unveiled by local MP Jeremy Corbyn and that there were about 20 people present. Confirmed on Corbyn's Facebook and at Islington Council.
