Built as a central, permanent, home for the Chartered Insurance Institute. The 2017 CII Journal announced "The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has agreed to the sale of 20/21 Aldermanbury to The City of London Corporation."
The bronze plaques on the pillars relate to other companies in the building.
