Puppeteer. Born in South Africa. He started work as a farmer in Cape Town, before moving to England in 1935 where he became assistant stage manager for the Ballet Rambert. He toured Europe and South Africa with his puppet theatre, before settling in London in 1959.

Andrew Behan has kindly researched this man: John Francis Wright MBE was born on either the 6th or the 7th October 1906. The 1939 England and Wales Register lists a John F Wright born 6 October 1906, divorced, living at 15 Fitzroy Street, St Pancras. His occupation was shown as 'Artist (Landscape and Stage Design)' and he was also a member of the Air Raid Precaution's Stretcher Party. He was awarded the MBE in the 1977 Queen's Birthday Honour List as a 'Puppeteer. Director, The Little Angel Theatre'. When his death was recorded in March 1991 in Lambeth, aged 84 years, his date of birth was given as 7 October 1906. Probate records show him as last residing at 10/12 Dagmar Place, N1 and that he died on 4 March 1991. His estate totalled £173,193.
