Percy Dearmer

Born Kilburn. Priest and liturgist. Canon of Westminster Abbey, author of the Parson’s Handbook and the Oxford Book of Carols. An early advocate of the ordination of women to public ministry but not to the priesthood. He is credited (along with Ralph Vaughan Williams and Martin Shaw) with the revival and spread of traditional and medieval English musical forms. 1901-15 vicar of St Mary's, Primrose Hill. Married Mabel and had two sons, Geoffrey and Christopher. Died at home at 4 Little Cloister, close to Westminster Abbey.
