Councillor T. Brooks, of Bethnal Green Borough Council, is to be Mayor of Bethnal Green for the coming year. He is a chimney sweep and intends to clean chimneys during his mayoral year. Photo shows: Mr T. Brooks going out for his morning's work today."

British History gives: "A.J.S. (Tom) Brooks (d. 1954), a chimney sweep who lived for 40 years in Brick Lane, was a vestryman for six years, Liberal councillor for 28, and thrice mayor."
