Actor. Born near Smithfield, North Carolina, USA. Married: Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw, Frank Sinatra (divorced 1957). This last was a famously stormy and passionate romance. Aged 33 moved to Madrid, Spain where she stayed for 8 years. She then moved to London and lived at 34 Ennismore Gardens from 1968 until her death. While abroad she continued making films, often returning to the States to do so.
