Lance Corporal Charles William Jackman. Born on the 16th November 1912 in Holborn, London, the son of Charles and Marian Frances Jackman (née Barnard). His father was a Groom. He was appointed as a Postman in the West London Postal Service in March 1929. He married Gladys Ellen Kipling on the 12th January 1935 in Islington and the London Electoral Registers show that between 1937 and 1939 they were living at 92 Tollington Road, London, N.7. They had one son, Alan Victor Jackman, who was born on the 11th December 1940. He joined the Corps of Military Police and died on the 15th April 1941, aged 28 years, and is buried in Section D, Grave 29 of the Cromer No.2 Burial Ground, Davey Hill, Holt Road, Cromer, Norfolk. Probate records show he and his wife had been living at 50 Allerton Road, Stoke Newington, N.16., and that he died on war service. Administration of his estate was granted to his widow. Effects amounted to £220.
