Charlotte Budd

Charlotte Budd was, according to baptismal registers, born on 28 September 1808, making her the second of the six children of Henry Budd (1787-1862) and Charlotte Budd née Swain (1787-1848). She was baptised on 25 January 1809 at the Bridewell Chapel in the City of London.

The 1841 census shows that she was living at Marine Parade, Brighthelmstone, Kemptown, Sussex, (now called Brighton), with her parents, a younger brother Edward Budd (1812-1890), her younger sister Emmeline Budd (1826-1851) and two female servants.

According to the monument at St Matthew's Church, Brixton, she died on 28 September 1854, which would have been her 46th birthday. However the parish burial registers claim that she was only aged 30 years when she died, which would indicate that she would have been born in either 1823 or 1824. This register also shows her place of abode to have been Russell Square, London and that she was buried on 7 October 1854.
