Edward Henry Mosse

Categories: Religion, Tragedy

War dead non-military, WW1 i

Commemorated on a memorial as being a civilian who was killed in WW1. Includes mercantile marines and emergency services personnel.

Edward Henry Mosse

Priest. Born in Heage, Derbyshire. Vicar of St.Michael's, Aspley Heath in Woburn Sands 1884-99, and Rector of St Paul's Covent Garden from 1899 until his death in a WW1 air raid. He was killed standing in a doorway as he was encouraging and consoling other shelterers.

St Paul's Covent Garden seems to have come through both wars unscathed so the doorway can't have been at the church.
