Fabian Benedict Peake was the younger son of Mervyn Peake (1911-1968) and Maeve Patricia Mary Theresa Peake née Gilmore (1918-1983). His birth was registered as Fabian Peake in the 2nd quarter of 1942 in the Worthing Registration District, West Sussex. His elder brother was Sebastian Peake (1940-2012). Known professionally as Fabian Peake, the Art UK website gives some information about this man 

In the 1963 and 1964 electoral registers he was listed as Fabian Peake, together with his family at 1 Drayton Gardens, London, SW10.

As Fabian Benedict Peake he married Gillian Phyllida Barlow (1944-2023) in the 3rd quarter of 1966 in the Richmond upon Thames Registration District, Greater London. His wife, an artist, was known professionally as Phyllida Barlow and in the 2021 New Year Honours List became Dame Phyllida Barlow when she was created a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE).

They had five children: Florence Peake (b.1973); Beatrix Clover Peake (b.1975); Tabitha Ruth Peake (b.1979) and twins: Edward Casper E. Peake and Lewis Conrad M. Peake (b.1981).
