Commemorated on a memorial as having died in WW1.

Soldier. Born Frank Edward Stubbs in Walworth. He served in India before WW1. On 25th April 1915 he was with the 1st Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers attempting to make a landing on the Gallipoli Peninsular. They were met with heavy fire from hidden machine guns which caused many casualties. He and others were able to cut the wire entanglements surrounding the guns, and gain control of the cliffs. He was killed in the operation, and his body was never recovered. For his bravery he was awarded the Victoria Cross. He was one of the group which became known as 'six VCs before breakfast'.
