Henry J. McCulloch

My Primitive Methodists has found mentions of this man at: Foundation-stone laying, Arthur’s Hill, Newcastle-on-Tyne; Cambridge St Peters Street Primitive Methodist chapel : "H. J. McCulloch, Esq., of York. The latter gentleman laid the foundation-stone, and presided at two large and enthusiastic meetings held in the Guildhall. ... our grateful acknowledgments are due to H. J. McCulloch, Esq., of York, whose liberality enriched the building fund £27"; Battyeford Primitive Methodist chapelBrotherton Primitive Methodist chapel ,Cliffe Primitive Methodist chapel, and Kirkbymoorside Primitive Methodist Chapel.

He is normally described as giving a speech, though sometimes he preaches. When there is a list of donations McCulloch's is always the largest.

Archive gives us his first name: Henry, his profession: engineer, and his nickname "Captain", and that in 1866, when the Primitive Methodists formed the Connexional Insurance Company, McCulloch was on the Board of Directors, as Treasurer. All this but no portrait.

Probably married to Mrs H. J. McCulloch.
