Formed as the Islington Art Circle in 1941 by A. E. Hickman-Smith and on his death in 1965 run by George and Deborah Bunting until their deaths in 2000.  Changed its name in 2002 to Islington Art Society.  A history of this group is given by the Picture Source website and also here.
