Pen name of espionage novel writer, David John Moore Cornwell. Born in Poole, Dorset. He took up writing when he was working for MI5 and MI6 in the 1950s and 60s. Best known for the novels 'The Spy Who Came in From the Cold' and 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' which featured the character of George Smiley.
Following a fall at his home and contracting pneumonia, he died, aged 89 years, on 12 December 2020 at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, Cornwall. His Wikipedia page and his obituaries in both The Guardian & the BBC give details of his life.
