Countries: USA

Died in an act of terrorism on 22 March 2017 on Westminster Bridge. Kurt Cochran, 54, from the US state of Utah, was in London as part of a holiday celebrating 25 years of marriage to Melissa, who was seriously injured in the attack. He died at the scene on Westminster Bridge from multiple injuries. CCTV footage of the attack, played at the inquest, showed the moment Mr Cochran saved his wife's life by pushing her away from the path of the terrorist's car before being hit by it himself. Mr Cochran owned Onion Street Studio, a sound-recording studio in his home state.

The BBC credit Met Police/Social Media for the photo but it must have been provided by family or friends, to whom we extend gratitude and deep sympathy.

Our colleague, Andrew Behan, adds that Kurt William Cochran was born on 9 September 1962 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA, the son of Harry Dean Cochran (1929-2017) and Iva Pearl Cochran née Litschauer (1932-2014). He had two siblings: Kelly Kay Cochran (1957-2014) and Mitchell Cochran.

On 20 June 1992 he married his wife Melissa Payne Cochran and they had two children: Dallas Cochran and Tylor Cochran. They lived in West Bountiful, Davis County, Utah, USA.

His body was cremated and his ashes were returned to his home state for burial on 24 June 2017.

He is shown as 'Kurt Cochran' on the memorial plaque attached to Westminster Bridge, London, SW1.
