Mihaela Draganescu was born on 18 December 1958 in Romania who came to the UK in 1984. She was briefly married but when the marriage broke down she retained her married surname of Otto. Living in Mill Hill East with her mother Elena Draganescu, her sister Dania Grodi and her sister's family, she was a dental technician at Lab 53 Ltd at 53 Sloane Street, London, SW1X 9SW. Her obituary can be found on the BBC News website.

She died, aged 46 years, on 7 July 2005 when travelling in the underground tunnel of the Piccadilly Line on the London Underground Railway between King's Cross and Russell Square underground stations that was targeted by a suicide bomber. The narrative verdict of her death can be found on the Coroner's Inquest Report.
