Paul Raphael Montford

Categories: Sculpture

Countries: Australia

Sculptor. Born in Kentish Town to father Horace. Other works in London: Battersea Town Hall (1892) and the panel on the King Charles Street bridge on Whitehall. Other websites refer to Montford's 1908 Sir William Randall Cramer at the Geffrye Museum but we can find no record of this man nor his statue (please let us know if you have any info).

Montford moved to Australia in 1922 where he worked and died.

2023: Liam J. Ostermann wrote to say: "Sir William Randal Cremer (1828 -1908) was normally known as simply Randal Cremer and it is under that name he will be found on Wikipedia. He was English and won the Nobel peace prize in 1903 and had a primary school named after him in Haggerston (still functioning), which might explain the link with the Geffrye Museum." That's helped - we now know who the statue represents, but we still cannot find an image of the statue.  The reference to it is from a reputable site: Glasgow City of Sculpture.
