Princess Charlotte of Wales

Categories: Royalty

As the only child of George, Prince of Wales (later George IV) and Caroline of Brunswick Charlotte was second in line to the throne. Born Carlton House (where Carlton House Terrace now stands) and there in 1816 married Prince Leopold of Saxe Coburg. Died shortly after giving birth to a still-born son, at their home in Surrey.

The 1948 film ' Affairs of a Rogue' covers her engagement to William, Hereditary Prince of Orange, while in love with Leopold. A lively telling which stays within sight of historical fact.
