Queen Mary (consort)

Categories: Royalty

Wife of George V, grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II. Born Princess Victoria Mary Augusta Louise Olga Pauline Claudine Agnes of Teck at Kensington Palace. Nicknamed May, the month of her birth. Her engagement to two brothers, each at the time heir to the throne, bears comparison to Catherine of Aragon’s story. Her first royal fiancé, Prince Albert Victor, died. Her marriage in 1893 changed her from Princess Mary of Teck to the Duchess of York and eventually to Queen. Died at her home, Marlborough House, London.
