Saint Erkenwald

Saint. Also known as Ercenwald, Earconwald, Eorcenwald and Erconwald. Born at Lindsey, Lincolnshire. He helped establish two Benedictine abbeys; Chertsey Abbey for men and Barking Abbey for women. His sister, Aethelburg, was abbess of Barking, while he served as abbot at Chertsey. Bishop of London 675 - 693. His remains were interred in the old St Paul's Cathedral.
